Mid November! Already? Wow! where has the year gone? I wonder. Seems like just yesterday the Easter bunny graced us with eggs aplenty. Pretty soon that over-weight old gentleman in red from the north pole will be squeezing his butt down our chimneys with bags of goodies for little, and not so little people. Hope you’ve behaved yourselves guys. If, however he misses your house, you could always report him to the SPCA for the abuse of those over-worked reindeers. That’ll show him!

Malls and supermarkets have their Xmas decorations up. There is a marked increase in store promotions. Car dealerships have introduced new models, and the privileged from among us wait with anticipation for their holiday getaways. New generation cell phones will soon be making their debut. Movie houses will be unleashing new blockbuster movies, and the Baxter will host exciting new musical productions which will endure through the festive season.

This is a particularly exciting period for informal businesses too. Traders are gearing up in anticipation of a bumper season. Pop-up markets are popping up all over the place, and pretty soon home industries will be hives of economic activity as they churn out confectionery, savouries, and one-of-a-kind designer dresses. So, folks, if you don’t yet have the “gees”, give it a couple of weeks…It’ll find you! After all, it’s a season of family, of bonding, of forgiveness, of charity, and not of excesses or over indulgences.

Oh! before I forget…what a whimper Guy fawkes was this year... definitely being phased out…Brilliant! Hopefully that was the last one. All these years we’ve celebrated a fellow who tried to burn down the British parliament…insane! I know! Does that mean we’re gonna celebrate the shmuck who actually burned down ours? [watch this space].

So, my blogees, the informal economy soldiers on. It’s not easy out there…I know, but we’re a resilient bunch and we give it our all. Now, without further ado, may you all find the “gees” and prepare for greater things to come. Till we bump fists again, take care…
